How will this affect you?

For most of the visitors to this site, you will not see any apparent differences except for perhaps a speed increase in the way the pages are served to you. HOWEVER, where it will affect others are those who have linked to this site using its “http://www.MusiqueAncienne.org“ domain name. (BE) Les Amis du Clavecin: Festival "Le Clavecin en fête" 22nd Year (4 Mar-1 Jun 2012)

Contributed by Admin on Jan 23, 2012

Le Clavecin en fête, a spring festival held in some of the most beautiful venues in Walloon Brabant and in Brussels, is celebrating its 22nd anniversary, this year.

The traditional venue of these concerts is the beautiful romanesque church of Tourinnes-la-Grosse, from which the festival derives its name. But the little church of Upigny provides an alternative venue when the intimate character of the works on the program requires one.

In the wake of the festival, there are also "The Harpsichord on Thursdays" and the "Espace Mikrokosmos", whose programs are a perfect foil for those of "The Harpsichord at Tourinnes".

(US) Helios Early Opera Concert: "David et Jonathas" (Marc-Antoine Charpentier) (26-27 jan 2012)

Contributed by Admin on Jan 22, 2012

Location: First Church Congregational, Cambridge MA, US

“Helios Early Opera makes its debut with Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s grand biblical drama David et Jonathas. A tragic love story between the future king of Israel and the doomed Jonathan, son of King Saul, David et Jonathas is one of only two full-length operas by one of the most fascinating composers of the seventeenth century. Full of psychological intensity, Bretonneau’s libretto provides a gripping drama that is highlighted by Charpentier’s dazzlingly innovative and powerful score.”

(AT) 36th Innsbruck Festival of Early Music (8-26 Aug 2012)

Contributed by Admin on Jan 22, 2012
“In 2012, Alessandro De Marchi, Artistic director of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, focuses on the influence that popular, traditional music of the baroque period had on composed music of that time. The programme is a journey through the great world of early music to various folk-music sources and to artistically impressive regions of sound – all across Europe as well as to Latin America and China. Rather exotic beauties also populate the opera stage: the passionate Neapolitan Stellidaura in an opera by Provenzale, the beautiful Helena in Bontempi’s “Il Paride” and the powerhungry Poppea in Monteverdi’s masterpiece.”
