The Foundation was established in 1985 as a non-profit organization with the motto “to stimulate and promote the Recorder's repertoire in every possible field”. The first solid step was taken by its founder, Walter van Hauwe, by creating the Catalogue of Contemporary Blockflute Music (CCBM), a catalogue devoted to original recorder music written after 1900.
By the year 1988, Mr. van Hauwe had about 400 titles in his archive, while he estimated another 300 works still to be discovered.
Now, 25 years later, more than 5000 titles can be found in the Catalogue of Contemporary Blockflute Music (CCBM), presumably 95% of the world-wide total.
The Catalogue of Historical Recorder Repertoire (CHRR) started to be created in the year 2000 by Paul Leenhouts. This extensive catalogue contains about 1900 titles portraying Recorder Repertory from the 16th century Renaissance, up to Rococo/Early Classical.
At date, Jorge Isaac is in charge of the database management. The Catalogue of Recorder Repertory is in constant development. New items and updates are uploaded every week, making it the largest database in this field worldwide. Both catalogues are hosted in a powerful open source platform and the user community counts more than 3.000 members from all around the world. The access to the database is totally free of charge.
